The Evolution of Batman in Cinema

Found this today. This video pretty much speaks for itself. So without saying too much I just really wanted to share it.

Batman might be one of my favorite characters of all time. Depending on the day, I might say Superman is my favorite superhero. But cinematically, the Last Son of Krypton hasn’t totally cut it, at least not in the way the Caped Crusader has.

Batman has been the spotlight of some excellent movies. The Dark Knight Trilogy is one of my all time favorites next to ‘Star Wars’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’. Even looking back on the original 1989 Tim Burton film with Michael Keaton, I absolutely love it.

Even ‘Batman & Robin’, one of the worst movies of all time, is still something I can appreciate because it’s honestly so bad that it’s good. I would not be against watching said movie if there’s a 6 pack of Blue Moon in my fridge. That just proves that he’s a character that’s worth something.

And when looking at his evolution in this video, you can see that this character has been everywhere in regards to tone, direction, and quality of storytelling.

Sometime before ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, I’ll have to go through and review this long standing franchise. Might have to do the same for Superman as well.

What are some of your favorite characters on screen? What’s your favorite Batman movie/portrayal so far? And are you excited to see what Ben Affleck brings to the character?

  1. In no universe would I ever be excited to see Ben Affleck as Batman. Hopefully, he’ll do so well that I’ll eat crow but until then this Batman vs Superman the movie will be a farce in my mind. I love what movie critic Sarah Marrs calls it; Superhero Face Punch.
