Alright. Here it is!
I’ve always been a huge Ghostbusters fan, and I’ve been dying for a 3rd movie my entire life. When this was announced last year, I was excited, but probably not as excited as I could have been.
I like the idea of an all-female cast. I like who they chose to star, and I like the director.
What I didn’t like however, was the notion that this would be a complete reboot. I would have much preferred a continuation of the first two movies. And with the success of ‘Jurassic World’, ‘Creed’, and ‘Star Wars The Force Awakens’, it’s honestly shocking that they would want to do a full reboot.
But after filming took place, and all the leaks of the original stars being present to cameo- I started to wonder if maybe this will still be a vague sequel. The beginning of this trailer also makes me think that too, as the events of the first movie were sort of acknowledged. Maybe the events of the first two movies have formed into big conspiracy theories that the people of New York no longer believe have any validation. That would be a great way to have it linked, but still be able to call it a reboot.
I don’t know. But the trailer still also gives that sense that they’re starting fresh, so there’s probably no real way of knowing if the movie might have some connection until we actually see it.
With all that aside, this trailer really got me excited for the movie. Even if it is a reboot, the things happening don’t seem to be copying too much of the first movie, so it looks like the story will still be very fresh and not something we’ve seen before. These are all funny women, and Paul Feig is a terrific comedic director. The ghosts, proton packs, and streams that shouldn’t be crossed look great! And so does the new Slimer!
This is the closest thing to a Ghostbusters 3 we might ever get, and I like what I see. I’m very excited for this new generation of Ghostbusting. And who knows? Maybe they are just joshing us, and this does end up being Ghostbusters 3. It’d be a very fun twist for the audience. Either way, I’m excited!
