‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Trailer

I have to admit, the first trailer for this didn’t excite me all that much. Something felt off about it. It looked like it was focusing on the disaster aspects a lot, which is never what X-Men was to me. This was a big reason for why ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ failed in comparison to the first two films.

This trailer still shows tons of action and disaster, but it also shows that there is still a very human story beneath it all. I absolutely loved the beginning of this trailer that showed Xavier and Magneto having the same conversation (word for word) that they had at the end of the original film. Perhaps this means that there might be some nice parallels to X2?!

The best thing about everything I see here, is that this actually looks like the real X-Men we’ve always wanted to see, but only had snippets of. There’s no Wolverine, and the ‘First Class’ cast seems sidelined a bit in favor of Jean, Cyclops, Nightcrawler…ya know…the real X-Men. Not the Junior Varsity versions, or the butchered versions we kinda had in the original trilogy. This is their chance to shine now! Show Cyclops becoming the leader he’s supposed to be. Build up Jean Grey’s instability again, and do Dark Phoenix right for the next movie! Don’t get me wrong, I’ve LOVED the X-Men series. But thus far, they’ve never really showcased these films as team movies. They always put the main focus on just a couple of characters per movie (plethora of Wolverine), and have other mutants there for show.

Now this movie might still do that. But it really looks like they’re trying to build up some of these new and re-introduced characters. So finally we might see a bit more of their human side, rather than just their powers.

I like the look of Apocalypse, and even his voice. He seems very powerful, and seems like a huge threat. I’m very excited to see what Oscar Issac brings to this role.

Very pumped for this!!!
